On 29 May 2023, NPA concluded the non-technical Survey (NTS) and technical survey (TS), in Nong Truong Viet Trung Township. A total 28,634,888m2 of land has been mapped and defined as confirmed hazardous areas (CHAs), and this is accounting for 33.3% of the township's total area. During the CMRS, NPA found 640 cluster munitions (CM) and 122 other unexploded ordnance, which have been removed to increase safety in the communities.
The CHAs have been reported to the Quang Binh Provincial Database and Coordination Unit (DBCU) for further clearance prioritization and tasking. Once these hazardous areas are cleared, it is expected to directly benefit 19,148 local people, including 5,760 women, 3,744 girls, 5,755 men, and 3,889 boys. The key source of income in the area is agriculture, rubber plantation and other forestry.

"Nong Truong Viet Trung township is one of the key agricultural economic areas in the province, therefore the overall view of land contamination provided by NPA’s surveys will significantly facilitate our economic development and bring safety to our residents during their daily income-generating activities", shared Mr. Hoang Minh Trung, Vice Chairman of the Township People's Committee in the wrap-up meeting held between NPA's Provincial Operations Manager, Military Liaison Officer, and the leaders of Nong Truong Viet Trung township's People Committee. In the meeting, NPA operation's results were shared, and maps displaying the contamination of the township were provided.

NPA work is conducted under the Cluster Munitions Remnants Survey (CMRS) Project - an integral component of the joint project implemented by the Consortium among Norwegian People's Aid Vietnam MAG Vietnam and PeaceTrees Vietnam with funding and support from the U.S. Department of State
Since the beginning of the project in May 2020, NPA has concluded CMRS in five communes and township of Bo Trach district, including Nam Trach, Tay Trach, Dai Trach, Hoan Lao and Nong Truong Viet Trung. NPA has found over 2,300 CM and other EO items and identified 43 CHAs with the total area of 69,568,096m2, that will need clearance.
